Homeroom

> students should have their baby pictures in for the yearbook! > Students should be aware the first term is almost over - each student should check SAS and make sure that missed test, assignments ect are looked after to avoid zeros!

Science

> we are currently working on "models of molecules". This is the last section of chapter 2. Students from class 9I were assigned 7 molecules to draw.

Concurrently, we will be working on an in class element assignment. If students are present and use their time well, most work should be completed in the class. It will be due November 24.
Each class will have 2 classes in the computer lab.

> the chapter 2 science test will be November 23. Outline is below.

Math

We are still working in section 2.2 - fractions. Students may make arrangements for extra help if needed. Students need to study the rules! We will have a chapter 2 test middle of next week.
Homework - finish what was not completed in class. # 5- 8 page 68 have been assigned.

* Questions 1,4, p. 47 Know : Pure Substances(compounds and elements), and Mixtures (heterogeneous mixtures and solutions)! Types and examples of each. See notes
* What is the Particle Theory?
* Properties and uses of Metals, p. 50-51. Why are mercury and lead not used?
* Be able to describe electrolysis experiment p. 52. What is electrolysis?
* Different ways to test for elements. Be able to give examples (O and H), p. 54-55
* What is a chemical symbol and a chemical formula, p. 59 Be able to count the atoms in given molecules.
* Know the composition of air (pie chart), nitrogen dioxide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, 2 types of ozone and points on each.
* Draw structural diagrams Section 2.9
* Names and formulas p.64. Know about combining capacity and be able to draw and name compounds
